Observations

this weekend, andrew and i came home to port huron for memorial day weekend. i brought summer clothes, because i looked at the forecast the other day and it was supposed to be hot and mostly sunny all weekend. alas, it was hot and sunny friday when i decided to forgo the beach, and now it's been mid-60s and rainy for two days. anyway, i obviously love being home with my cats and all my stuff that is still here, and a target one mile away as opposed to four. so here are a few hipstamatic prints to represent my weekend!

there is a map of the tube downstairs! it is so awesome, but most of it is blocked my bunk beds, so i didn't get good pictures.

so we stayed the night in the cottage. it's really cute! too bad we didn't have nicer weather, but it was fun watching 'old school' (i hadn't seen it), eating treats, and seeing all the tacky old furniture and decor. and i love how everything in canada is also in french. we drove by an all french school! mind you, this is right across the u.s. border and not far north in canada at all.

Mug Collection

so i don't really know what kind of a blog i want to have, but i've just been so inspired by some of the other blogs i've been following that i know i want to try and keep it up! since nothing totally exciting has happened since the gala (except our trivia team came in first on sunday with a near perfect score of 85!) i thought i would share one of my collections with you. since i am a barista, and i love coffee, it's only fitting that i have a much too large collection of coffee mugs! i have several of them stowed away at my parents' house, and some of them packed away in the attic because our kitchen isn't ideal to display allllll of them. but here are some of my most prized!

my go-to mug these days. this morning it holds my gevalia french roast and hazelnut coffee-mate creamer.

the above mug is from the very talented etsy-ist MaidOfClay, who custom made this true blood mug for me! (i found her through a similar one by her on pinterest that drew me in, btw) i love love it, but i keep it up on my desk because i don't trust anyone and i don't want it to be lost or broken. if you haven't seen true blood, listen to the theme song and you'll understand! the fang marks on the rim are the best part: ) the front says "i wanna do bad things with you."

this mug has sadly been worn out since this photograph. one scary similarity is that this photo was taken the night my two front teeth were chipped and alas, the mug is now chipped. it still sits on my desk because i love it too much to say goodbye.

this is one side of my vintage owl mug that i found at my favorite big rapids thrift store, the wise shopper. i hope nothing bad ever happens to this lil guy!

i love my south dakota mug. not sure why, i guess because i like that it's kind of etched and not just printed on. makes me want to visit one day, for sure!

self-explanatory!

this tuesday i have work and trivia, or that is the plan. and i've been missing the sun, so hopefully it makes an appearance today. i also have to announce that today is exactly one month until our trip to croatia!!

Comeback Kid

I tested out the panoramic function on my new digital camera at the msu basketball game we attended on thursday. we won, btw. and we had pretty good seats! it was the first msu game of any kind i've ever been to and it did not disappoint. i was especially impressed by the izzone. it made me wish i had went to a school where we got that excited about anything. see; ferris state bulldogs hockey team ranked first in nation. see; angela never did make it to one of those games. see; i don't really like hockey anyway.


anyway, this morning andrew and i went to TIM HORTONS!!! there is finally one in grand rapids. it's not really conveniently located to where i live, but it was well worth the commute for a lovely breakfast. man, i love that place. we got a coffee, hash brown, breakfast sandwich, cinnamon roll, donut, and a cafe mocha for $7. then i bought a pound of coffee for $8 - that's a great deal. it took everything i had not to steal the plates our food was on. i could just stock my kitchen with their mugs and cute little plates. afterward we stopped at ghetto meijer (kalamazoo and 28th) to pick up some vitamins. for those of you who don't know, i have very fine hair and i'm very afraid of balding, so i'm trying out some hair, skin, & nails pills. i got a 40 day supply for $5. i will update you on my hair growth progress. please cross your fingers: )

later on tonight, andrew and i are helping cater an event at steelcase town hall for the urban institute of contemporary arts (uica). it should be interesting to see and at least we'll make makin those dolla billz y'all.

florida is in 2.5 weeks! can't wait to hit up miami will smith style. and disney world eli manning style.
